Demystifying Veil Care

Myth 1: Veils are too delicate to store properly.

Reality: Storing your veil is simpler than you think! Just hang it on a padded hanger, cover it with a garment bag (avoid plastic!), and keep it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.

Myth 2: You can't clean your veil at home.

Reality: For synthetic veils without embellishments, a gentle hand wash works wonders. Use cold water, a tiny bit of gentle detergent, and hang it to dry. For specific marks, a gentle stain remover in a light solution does the trick. However, veils with embellishments should be taken to a professional.

Myth 3: Ironing a veil is too risky.

Reality: Steaming is the safest option, but if you need to iron, it’s doable! Use a low heat setting, place a damp cloth between the iron and your veil, and avoid any embellishments. It’s easy and safe when done right.

Myth 4: Traveling with a veil is difficult, and could ruin it.

Reality: Traveling with your veil is straightforward. Lay it flat in a garment bag, and add some acid-free tissue paper between the layers for extra protection. Your veil will arrive in perfect condition.

Myth 5: Once it's wrinkled, it’s ruined.

Reality: Wrinkles can be easily handled. Use a handheld steamer or iron with a damp cloth to remove wrinkles safely. Your veil will look as good as new.

Do This, Not That:

Do This:

  • Hang It Up: Use a padded hanger and cover it with a garment bag.

  • Keep It Cool: Store away from direct sunlight in a cool, dry place.

  • Gentle Handling: Clean hands only when touching your veil.

  • Hand Wash Synthetic Veils: Use cold water, less than a tablespoon of gentle detergent in 10 liters of water, and dry on a padded hanger.

  • Pretreat Stains: Use a gentle stain remover in a light solution before hand washing.

  • Professional Cleaning: Take embellished veils to a professional cleaner.

  • Steam or Iron: Use a handheld steamer or a low heat iron with a damp cloth.

  • Travel Safely: Lay flat in a garment bag with acid-free tissue paper between layers.

  • Emergency Fixes: Keep a travel-size steamer and stain remover pen handy.

Not That:

  • Don't Use Plastic Covers: They trap moisture and can damage your veil.

  • Don't Use Hot Water: Always stick to cold water for cleaning.

  • Don't Overuse Detergent: A tiny amount of gentle detergent is enough.

  • Don't Iron Directly: Always use a damp cloth between the iron and the veil.

  • Don't Skip Professional Cleaning: Embellished veils need professional care.

  • Don't Expose to Sunlight: Avoid direct sunlight to prevent discoloration.

  • Don't Leave Wrinkles: Use steam or iron to keep your veil wrinkle-free.
